That’s a good point. I’m guessing it’s because she can’t leave Orchid Bay City and therefore can’t go on big adventures with them unless they come to her. Though she could be a side member and occasionally be a resource.

of Cartoon Network’s The Life and Times of Juniper Lee.

If there’s anyone out there who didn’t watch this show, or doesn’t even remember it, for shame. Juniper Lee is a fabulous show with a fantastic protagonist!

Not only is Juniper totally kick-butt (she fights monsters ten times her size, plus she’s defeated Loki, the God of Mischief!), but she still manages to get good grades and is president of the Asian Students Association at her school! She’s one of those eleven-year-olds who thinks she’s uncool even though everyone else loves her, especially her three best friends who are 1) girly as hell and totally perky and spunky, 2) goth, purple dyed hair, and seemingly unhappy most of the time, and 3) a loud, rambunctious, stoner guy. You gotta love the variety of personalities in her friends.

And speaking of, the fact that Ophelia (angry goth girl) and Jody (perky girl) get along so well is another thing that’s really great to see. Being able to like different things and still get along is a lesson that should show up more often in kids cartoons!

Over the course of the series, Juniper also becomes really good friends with Marcus, the guy she likes. Though they never date - which is actually even more awesome, since they’re eleven and eleven-year-olds really don’t need to be dating - it’s great that the show allows her to be friends with somebody she likes, that it isn’t an all-or-nothing situation.

Before starting, I want to point out one thing, because this comparison has been done oh-so-many times before: I LOVE BOTH SHOWS UNCONDITIONALLY. They are both really excellent shows that came out around the same time and their creators have confirmed that all similarities are coincidence.

I have yet to see a comparison of these two that didn’t end with “____ is better”. Look, to everyone out there: these shows have a LOT of similarities, but they are NOT the same. Not at ALL. If you can only promote one show by putting down the other, you are stupid, stop talking, you need to leave, go away.

Excellent post! I would bring out a few extra things, but i don’t think they’re that necessary for this comparison for any other reasons than to specify. I’ve never really seen all the episodes of AmDrag myself tho and am much more knowledgeable on Juniper Lee stuff, so heh, wouldn’t be much help bringing out any more differences than what’s already here! But you did a very good job at bringing the most important stuff out and that’s great.
yo if there’s still anyone doubting about these shows being too similar to eachother, this article here gets to the bottom things pretty fast.
