i love how the ray ray in my icon actually looks like he’s transmitting the messages here thru his phone. haha
ALL THESE FEELS
how Ray Ray was good at being the Te Xuan Ze
how he’d always wanted to be the Te Xuan Ze
always in the shadow of his sister
always causing trouble when he tried to help
and then he was
and he kicked ass
and he loved it
but he couldn’t live in a world with no June
so he gave it all up for her
and the worst part is no one even remembered it had happened
but he knew it had been real
and so he started actually learning stuff
he got the kick in the nuts saying he could be good at it, he could be an important part of the team
if he just tried
and so he tried
and Monroe went from being “I have had ENOUGH OF THESE SHENANIGANS” to “oh you wanna learn magic? I THOUGHT YOU’D NEVER ASK LAD HERE HAVE THIS BOOK AND THIS AND I’MMA SHOW YOU HOW TO DO EVERYTHING AND I AM SO PROUD OF YOU LAD YOU’RE FINALLY TAKING THIS SHIT SERIOUSLY I’M GONNA COACH THE HECK OUT OF YOU AND BY THE TIME WE’RE DONE YOU WON’T RECOGNIZE THE BUTT-KICKER YOU’VE BECOME AND OMG ARE THESE TEARS OF JOY YOU BETTER NOT BE MESSING WITH ME LAD” in like two seconds. That “Here, let me show you” at the very end made me tear up.
Truly one of the best episodes of one of the greatest shows ever. And SO MUCH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT FOR RAY RAY. I LOVE YOU BBY.
WHY DID THE SHOW HAVE TO END FOUR EPISODES LATER I WANTED TO SEE MORE OF A RAY RAY WHO KNOWS MAGIC AND DENNIS BEING PART OF THE TEAM AND LILA BEING PART OF THE TEAM AND JODY KNOWING STUFF AND JUNE BEING HAPPY AND STUFF.

shows everyone should watch but nobody will watch - the life and times of juniper lee
Am I the only one who noticed the severely large number of similarities between “The Life and Times of Juniper Lee” and “Jake Long: American Dragon”?
Let’s get started, shall we?
Both main characters have been thrust into a new world they never saw before, full to the brim with monsters and magic.
Not only that, but it’s worth noting that both were of Asian (either Chinese or Japanese) descent but that they also share the SAME INITIALS, Juniper Lee and Jake Long.
Both have overbearing Grandparents who have passed down powers to them that they have to learn how to use responsibly.
Both have annoying younger siblings who, at some point in the show, become better at the main character’s job than they could’ve ever dreamed.
And last but not least, both had grey magical talking dogs, (if memory serves) BOTH voiced by John DiMaggio
Not that you’re wrong about there being similarities….
- Both Chinese. No Japanese at all. Jake is also half-white.
- Lao Shi did not pass down his powers to Jake, Lao Shi is still a dragon and often fights alongside Jake. He’s just retired as the Chinese Dragon and become a dragon master instead. Also Juniper had no issues learning to control her powers.
- Ray Ray NEVER becomes better at Juniper’s job than her. He becomes helpful, yeah, but not better. And Haley’s entire episode of “being better” ends with a heartfelt speech about how difficult it is to be the American Dragon and how she could never imagine doing it.
- John DiMaggio only voiced Fu Dog. Not Monroe.
