((an added commentary, they both have a point. Ilana is right, this is all their fault and they should do their best to try and fix it. People are being massacred left and right and it’s all because the Earth had the misfortune of being the planet they landed on, it’s really not Earth’s fault and…
((This reminds me of a thing I sometimes wonder: How does Modula know whether or not his monsters are working? Xeexi was sentient and could have just told him, but can’t see most of the other monsters hopping into a spaceship and stomping back home to tell their boss the news. Does he just keep sending monsters indefinitely without knowing what’s become of Ilana?))
((hm, The Shaman was intelligent, as was the muck monster from Showdown at Sherman High. The reptile guy from Demon Within actually almost did fly back. The monster in I am Octus was probably kept track of by it’s high pitched noises (if it died then, to Modula, obviously Ilana and Friends killed it). Tashy had his heart monitor, the guy from Under the Three Moons could likely keep track of his beast himself. I believe the monster in Lessons in Love also used high pitched soundwaves. The data monster from A Family Crisis is also easily kept up with.
The duplication mutraddi from Scary Mary was also probably intelligent, just quiet. The tornado would probably also be kept track of by electrical pulses. Robocerberus from episode 2 is a robot so that’s super easy to keep track of.
That leaves the dragon from Disenfranchised, the short screen time monster from White Dragon, the fire monster from Escape to Sherman High and the triple dinosaur from the last episode. Another added bullet for anyone I may have missed. Oh and the one mutraddi it took the military forever to kill.
His plan may have also been simplified to “whenever the planet’s gone” because he DID have the Earth’s coordinates. (Pretty sure the data monster missed course). It also seems like his style to level the whole planet, either to be sure or just because.
What we know is that Modula knew his monsters were being killed, but he didn’t know how, or even who was with her. (To him Titan didn’t exist until Xeexi brought back info)
Speaking of Xeexi, he could have planted something. He came pretty early in the series (Phantom Ninja, episode 4, after fire, cerberus, and GlowCloud)
Or now that I’ve typed this all out, if he has access to the kings computer (which he does, he uses it to open the rift gate) he’s probably locked the signal on either Ilana’s watch, Lance’s watch (mistaking it for Ilana’s), or even Octus himself, the signal being enhanced by Octus’ late night data crunching. We have no idea how those watches work in our world, but considering what they’re used for they probably keep the pulse of the wearer. The signal probably extends to their armour.
This was probably something Genndy planned on explaining but didn’t get the chance, or just as likely something not even the crew had figured out yet.and it could also be something similar to how Tashy became important later by his ship parts.
I’m saying we can speculate, ther’s a lot of possibilities, but we just don’t know. As for now I’m personally going for a mixture of everything I just said because it’s 2AM and it’s too early for this.))
